Fortnite players believe the sandbox survival game Minecraft could be next for a crossover collaboration. There are currently no official signs that Fortnite and Minecraft will work together, but if they do it would combine two of gaming’s biggest franchises.
Collaborations have become Fortnite’s identity in recent years, growing beyond simple skins to events that change the game. Epic Games has partnered with dozens of gaming, movie, anime, and comic properties since Fortnite’s launch.
With Minecraft’s immense popularity, it would make sense for the game to receive its own dedicated Fortnite experience.
Latest Fortnite x Minecraft collaboration rumour
Popular Fortnite leaker HYPEX shared the post with his followers, but captioned it as “rumoured.” That typically means he has not confirmed the information with his own sources.
The original poster says the collaboration is currently in early development. There is no time frame or mention of what sort of content could come to Fortnite. Both of those details typically mean an idea is in its conceptual stages, or has not been finalized by developers.
Minecraft would be a huge collaboration for Fortnite
You do not need to look far to see how successful Minecraft is. If there was ever a game to receive a Fortnite collaboration, Minecraft is at the top of the list.
The blocky game art is recognizable to all ages and could provide interesting assets for Fortnite.
With Fortnite continuously changing its gameplay around events and crossovers, it would be interesting to see what a Minecraft-themed week would look like. Some possibilities include:
- Character skins based on famous Minecraft mobs
- Pickaxes and back blings based on old Minecraft picks
- A Minecraft-themed Fortnite island
- Building and adventure modes
Of course, this is simply speculation until we hear more information.
Take the rumour with a grain of salt
As exciting as a Fortnite and Minecraft crossover sounds, there has been no word from Epic Games or Minecraft developer Mojang.
Lots of collaborations are tested internally at Epic, and don’t make it past the paperwork phase. We will believe it when we see it. Plus, while Fortnite has proven it can partner with most franchises, Minecraft is a one-of-a-kind gaming property. Will these two massive games come together? Only time will tell.
