Fortnite's newest movie crossover has arrived. Epic Games announced today that The Odyssey will arrive in Fortnite just in time for Christopher Nolan's highly-anticipated film debut.
You can find many characters from the film inside Fortnite's battle royale, but you'll also have the opportunity to unlock one of those skins for free.
The Odyssey crosses over with Fortnite beginning July 17 when the movie arrives in theaters across the US and UK. Players who don't want to wait can unlock the Odysseus outfit without using any V- Bucks by competing in a few limited-time tournaments.
How to Get the Odysseus Skin for Free
Players will be able to get the Odysseus skin early by competing in Fortnite's new Odyssey Cups. These tournaments will be held on July 15 and July 16.
There are a few playlists included in the Odyssey Cups for every region:
- Solo Battle Royale
- Solo Zero Build
- Mobile Reload
Players that place high enough on each regional leaderboard will be rewarded with the Odysseus outfit prior to its release in the Item Shop. As was the case with previous Fortnite Cup prizes, only the highest winners from each region will qualify for the free cosmetic.
If you don’t rank high enough in the tournaments, don’t fret. You’ll still be able to buy the collaboration when it launches in the Fortnite Item Shop on July 17 at 8PM ET.
We know two of the characters players will be able to play as from the movie so far:
- Odysseus (Matt Damon)
- Agamemnon (Benny Safdie)
Epic teased the movie crossover with a cinematic video that went live on its official social pages. In the video, Odysseus can be seen walking around in a massive room with giant statues lining the walls.
Leaks also suggest Penelope will make her way to Fortnite sometime in a future update. Penelope is played by Anne Hathaway in the upcoming movie. For now, Epic Games hasn’t confirmed any other characters.
As for pricing, Epic hasn’t announced that detail yet but skins from collaborations usually go for 1,500 V-Bucks. Usually, bundles will include other cosmetics such as back blings, pickaxes, and emotes for cheaper.
