Far Cry 7 location, story, co-op and extraction mode details have reportedly leaked online

The next Far Cry game could be called Far Cry: Rise according to the latest leak, which also reveals the first story and location details.

It's safe to assume that Ubisoft are working on the next Far Cry game at the moment as this shooter franchise is one of their most successful and popular IPs.

However, we don't have an official confirmation from the publisher that one of their studios is indeed busy with the next Far Cry so the leak we're going to discuss in this article should be taken with a grain of salt, to say the least.

The leak comes from the controversial forum 4chan, where a poster has shared a bunch of details about Far Cry: Rise, which is allegedly the name of the new Far Cry game.

Furthermore, the game will be set on a tropical island in the Yellow Sea near Korea. The story seems to be quite similar to the one in Far Cry 6. Basically, you're in a fight against a North Korean dictator who is apparently played by actor Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game).

The campaign will support up to four-player co-op and there will be a new game mode called Conquest, which is pretty much a copy of extraction-type shooters we see today like Hunt: Showdown, Escape From Tarkov and Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 DMZ.

We've heard before that Ubisoft are working on a Tarkov-like Far Cry game

This correlates with previous rumours about the new Far Cry games, which revealed that the codename for the extraction type title is Project Maverick.

We also got the information that Far Cry will be dropping the Dunia engine, which was used for this series since Far Cry 2, in favour of Massive Entertainment's Snowdrop Engine that powers The Division series and the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Anyway, we have to mention once again that these are just rumours so you should not take the information as gospel. Even if the info is indeed legit, games can drastically change during the development so what was true a year ago, may not be today.

Far Cry 7 or whatever is called is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, sometime in the coming years.
