Respawn Entertainment and EA can potentially work towards a grand overhaul for Apex Legends, with a potential grand overhaul for the battle royale title in tow.
During EA’s quarterly earnings conference recently, Andrew Wilson, its CEO, touched on Apex Legends' success but confirmed its growth over the past several years has moderated off.
Having added over 200 million players, Wilson confirmed its commercial journey hasn’t lived up to its dream.
For now, Respawn will continue supporting the title with anti-cheat, quality-of-life updates, and new content, but a big update is in the works.
That being said, Wilson stressed that such an overhaul will not become a high-priority endeavor until a new Battlefield title releases, one that will drop in a matter of months, no later than in April 2026.
Wilson explained that the group is actively experimenting with many changes and keeping current player base engaged in the meanwhile.
He described their modus operandi in terms of having three key concerns: supporting current community, preparing a big update for the title, and then ushering in a larger overhaul in a future date.
Looking further in the future, Wilson hinted at "Apex Legends 2.0," a deeper, long-term revamp and not an expansion, update, but a full overhaul.
He assured that Apex Legends will receive continued development, with Respawn committed to developing its presence and simplifying its gameplay.
For now, one can search for constant updates with Respawn working towards possibly its most significant move yet in its future in the game.
