Cyclops has officially joined Marvel Rivals as the game's 51st hero, arriving today as part of the Season 8.5 update. The mid-season patch went live at 9:00 AM UTC on 12 June 2026, following a brief two-hour maintenance window, and with it Scott Summers has finally made his playable debut in one of the most in-demand additions the community has been calling for since launch.
He arrives as a Duelist, and his kit is built entirely around his optic blasts. His primary fire, the Kira Pistols, lets him lay down rapid bursts of concussive force, but the ability that will define how he is played is the capacity to calculate ricochets. Cyclops can bounce his beams off surfaces and enemies, reaching targets hiding around corners or tucked behind cover, which opens up an entirely different dimension of sightline control compared to anything currently in the game.
His Execution ability fires an X-shaped volley that can be held to tighten the spread, and Evade gives him a dash with a brief window of overhealth to reposition when things get close. His Joyride ability lets him rev up and then launch himself forward, and his ultimate, Satsuriku Spree, has him rushing forward three times in a sustained burst of gunfire.
The Major Perk, Faces of Death, is already raising eyebrows: It grants Cyclops every damage sub-role passive simultaneously, giving him Recon, Sharpshooter, and Specialist bonuses at once, which is a significant amount of value baked into a single perk slot.
Season 8.5 arrives with more than just Cyclops. A new map, the K'un-Lun Shenloong Arena, has been added alongside fresh storylines for Cyclops, Daredevil, and The Punisher. The 616 Day Vault also opens from 12 to 26 June, bringing back limited-time cosmetics from July to September 2025, including previous Swimsuit Special and Summer Special collections. Three new costumes launch on day one: Cyclops' Weapon M skin, Magik's Soulless Sword, and the White Crown Phoenix skin for Phoenix.
