Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl - Cost of Hope DLC announced for Summer 2026 release with new trailer showcasing expansion content

A new Stalker 2: Cost of Hope trailer introduces companions Zulu and Makva, new locations, and hints at major choices in the upcoming expansion.

Developers GSC Game World have released a new trailer for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl - Cost of Hope. The new DLC was originally announced back in March and is set for release sometime in Summer of 2026.

While we still don’t know the exact release date for the DLC, today’s trailer gives players the closest look at the expansion yet. Players will be able to take on two new companions during their journey with Skif.

Introduce to Zulu of Duty and Makva of Freedom, both friends seem to have moral complexities of their own. The trailer shows Zulu being followed by shadows and Makva stating that he’s still looking for something.

This new duo looks to team up for at least a little while to travel with Skif through some fascinating new environments.Players can expect to visit some long abandoned factories, forests of dead trees, and locales overtaken by anomalies.

Speaking of anomalies, one highlight of the trailer features a room filled with shifting gravity. Players will also seemingly visit the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant at some point in the DLC’s story.

Elsewhere, we catch a glimpse of what looks to be a mysterious masked figure loading up on some high-tech gear to take on Skif himself. Player choice also appears to be another theme of Cost of Hope.

As was the case with the main game, players can expect to make choices related to the different factions that could impact the story and who your allies can be.
