Assassin's Creed Shadows wants to offer two totally different play styles with its two characters. The developers of Assassin's Creed Shadows explained to us how different the two protagonists we will be able to play will differ.
Assassin's Creed will allow us to play alternately with two different characters for the first time in nine years in the new game, Ubisoft confirms. We last had it in Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, and the upcoming AC Shadows will further elaborate on the concept of dual protagonists.
As explained in the new presentation of the game, the characters of Yasuke and Naoe are designed to be distinctly different from each other and as such represent two play styles. It is clear that Yasuke will offer the fantasy of playing the role of a samurai, while Naoe will be a shinobi / ninja.
What wasn't clear until now was how much overlap there would be between the two characters' skills - how Yasuke would perform parkour moves and how Naoe would fight larger, armored opponents.
The answer is that both characters will be able to perform the most basic actions, but not equally fast / well. For example, if you try to perform a traditional shadow jump with Yasuke, that jump will not go smoothly, and his movement and climbing will be significantly slower than with Naoe.
On the other hand, Yasuke will be able to break through doors, carry larger objects, etc., which will not be possible with Naoe.
Ubisoft says that Yasuke and Naoe have different amounts of energy, different movement speed, different skills, use separate weapons and equipment, and have different responses in conversations.
For this reason, the gameplay in Shadows should gain more variety, and perhaps more challenge. We'll see when the game comes out on November 15 this year.
