The first major expansion of Assassin’s Creed Shadows from Ubisoft is on the horizon and fans will soon be able to experience it. The new release report states that Ubisoft plans to launch the DLC Claws of Awaji in September 2025.
The main game received a powerful debut by taking players to a beautifully rendered feudal Japan featuring dual protagonists alongside deep RPG mechanics.
The expansion promises to extend the narrative with fresh content features new weapons and enemies alongside exploration of an uncharted region. Industry insiders report positive development of the DLC without official Ubisoft confirmation and no interruptions from delays in other Ubisoft games.
Claws of Awaji Expansion – What to Expect
Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reports that Claws of Awaji will deliver more than ten hours of fresh content which provides players a major incentive to revisit Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The DLC features a new weapon type for Naoe – the Bō staff which will bring fresh combat dynamics to the game.
Players will encounter new enemy types and explore a newly designed location in the expansion that seems to take inspiration from Japan's historic Awaji Island.
Release Window
Ubisoft has planned a September 2025 release for the expansion but may push back the launch to October due to its wider publishing strategy. Several major projects have already been moved by the company yet insiders indicate Claws of Awaji is still progressing as planned for now.
What additional content and features will Assassin’s Creed Shadows offer after its release?
