Assassin's Creed: Shadows was supposed to be released in November 2024, but due to many problems with the game development and the problems with Ubisoft in general, it has been decided the best course of action is to delay the game for the next year. The new release date was set to mid-March, and how it all stands, this date will be the real one.
This was further confirmed by today's event, where three leaked videos showcased direct gameplay from both protagonists. These videos contain spoilers, as the quests they undertake are clearly visible. Additionally, several high-quality screenshots from the game were also leaked.
This raises the question of whether these leaks were accidental or deliberately staged to restore faith in Ubisoft just before the launch of one of their most anticipated titles. Many believe this game could either mark a turning point for the company or push it further towards decline.
Reports suggest that early review codes have already been distributed to select parties, and the leak likely originated from one of them. Given the confidentiality reviewers adhere to (speaking from personal experience), such leaks are rare unless they are intentionally orchestrated.
In any case, all videos and screenshots can be seen here, so if you don't bother spoiling Assassin's Creed: Shadows to yourself, check them out, but since videos contain obvious spoilers, we will once again warn you to watch them at your own risk.
One more thing that is quite important is that all the leaks you'll see here are actually from the previous build. Today, the game received a 25 GB heavy patch that improves dodging and parrying speed and improves the game overall. Also, the reports claim that the gameplay from those leaks was recorded on the PlayStation 5, and it is "butter-smooth" at 60 FPS.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows is set to be released on March 20, 2025 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Ubisoft Connect and Steam.
