In a recent interview on the Ubisoft official website, Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot confirms that multiple Assassin's Creed games will get remakes. In this interview, Guillemot discussed the future of Ubisoft's videogame portfolio, gave us a hint of what's to come from the Assassin's Creed series, and mused on the evolution of longstanding game genres and of the industry itself.
Regarding the Assassin's Creed: Shadows, he stated that exploring a world with two complementary yet different characters, is a very enticing proposition. The players can play as a shinobi or a samurai, which gives a different experiences depending on the choice.
When asked about the gaming evolution in connection with Assassin's Creed games, Yves said that technology is making games more advanced. For example, in Assassin's Creed: Shadows, they have a weather system that will affect its gameplay; ponds that were once swimmable might freeze, for instance.
While talking about the similarities between Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Valhalla and Odyssey and what to expect more, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said: "Firstly, players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich".
Furthermore, he said that Ubisoft's goal is to make Assassin's Creed games come out more frequently in the future, but hinted that the games won't be the same, that they will introduce more variety into them.
He hopes that they will surprise many people and gamers with their releases: "Secondly, to answer your question, there will be plenty of experience variety. The goal is to have Assassin's Creed games come out more regularly, but not for it to be the same experience every year. There are a lot of good things to come, including Assassin's Creed Hexe, which we've announced, which is going to be a very different game from Assassin's Creed Shadows".
In the end, we can only tell that Ubisoft is preparing a lot of positive changes into their game development, providing us, the players, more variety in the games and more exciting content for us to enjoy!
