In Starfield, you will get to hire people and send them to help you out in your spaceship, or give them jobs on various outposts that you build across the galaxies. Companions and crew members will also have their own questlines and you can even start a romantic relationship with some of them.
So far, we've seen quite a lot of potential companions in Starfield along with their skill set. Below, we've included all companions and crew members that Bethesda revealed so far in Starfield trailers, including some short description and their skills.
Keep in mind that this is not the full list of all of them as there will certainly be more people that you can invite to join you on your adventure in this sci-fi RPG. So without further ado, let's check out the people of Starfield that you can hire as your companion.
STARFIELD COMPANIONS
Companions are characters that have unique questlines and play a bigger role in Starfield's story. They are more than just a crew member who you send out to outposts or your ship.
Sarah Morgan
Skills: Astrodynamics 4, Lasers 3, Leadership 2, Botany 1
Sarah Morgan is a member of the Constellation faction, who are exploring the galaxies to find answers on where did human race come from.
Morgan is seen numerous times in the Starfield trailers, which means she will play a big part in Starfield's story.
Sam Coe
Skills: Piloting 4, Rifle Certification 3, Payloads 2, Geology 1
Sam is a space cowboy with strong piloting skills so he'll certainly come in handy if you need someone to take the helm of your ship. Additionally, he's good with rifles and has Payload and Geology skills.
Barret
Skills: Starship Engineering 4, Particle Beam Weapon Systems 3, Robotics 2, Gastronomy 1
Barret is another main companion with very strong skills in engineering and weapons. He appeared in Starfield trailers several times and his look changed a bit since we've seen him the first time.
STARFIELD CREW MEMBERS
Crew members differ from companions as they don't have full-fledged questlines nor they take part in the main storyline. Crew members can be assigned to various outposts across the galaxy or as an engineer on your ship.
Marika Boros
Skills: Shotgun Certification 1, Ballistics 2, Particle Beam Weapon Systems 1
Marika Boros seems to be one of the side companions that are not part of the main story judging by her skills, which seem lesser than the companions we've listed so far.
Heller
Skills: Geology 1, Outpost Engineering 3
Heller is another side companion in Starfield will only two skills. In the deep dive trailer, the player finds Heller stuck on a desolate planet. You can choose to let him aboard or leave him, which would be very cruel.
Vasco
Skills: Unknown so far
Vasco is one of the robots that will be available in Starfield. Todd Howard confirmed recently that there are more than one robot type in the game so it will be interesting to see what else Starfield has to offer in terms of robot crew members.
Starfield companion assignments
As confirmed by Bethesda, you can give your companions different assignments, be it a role on your ship or an outpost on some distant planet. Companions can take care of various tasks for you so you don't waste precious time going from planet to planet to take care of your operations.
