Faction questlines are some of the best optional content in Starfield and if you've been playing the double agent role in the Crimson Fleet story and came to the conclusion of this fantastic treasure hunt, chances are that the final mission called The Legacy's End is proving to be a hard nut to crack.
If you choose to bring Kryx's Legacy to the UNSC, your final mission will be to destroy the Crimson Fleet and bring Delgado to justice. That's easier said than done, though.
Be it a very powerful arsenal of weapons of Crimson Fleet, or just the sheer scale of them, the pirates will be a frustrating experience but luckily, I've found a way to deal with them after failing this mission several times. So, if you are struggling to destroy the Crimson Fleet Defenders and its captains in the final showdown in this questline, here's an easy way to do it.
How to defeat Crimson Fleet defenders?
If you're really struggling with direct, head-to-head combat, like I did, your best bet is to turn the ship around and towards the moon which should be directly behind you when the mission starts.
So, as soon as the battle starts, fly towards the moon until you're 3000 metres from the enemy ships, which will not engage you if you're at this distance.
From this position, slowly start to fly back towards the battle until you're around 2500 metres from the fleet's ships. This way, you can shoot the ships from a distance and won't aggro other ships like Wraiths and smaller turrets around The Key.
Pick the named ships of the Crimson Fleet captains like Lady Lyudmila or Moonlight as they are more powerful than regular ships.
It's also important to notice that as soon as you destroy one of the named ships, other ships will take notice and start attacking you so fly away from the danger zone again and repeat the process.
Don't forget to use the quick save after you destroy every ship but only when you're in the clear and no ship is still following or attacking you.
After struggling for a while with this mission, using this method I was able to destroy the Crimson Fleet and proceed to The Key. If this guide was helpful, check out more Starfield content below:
