Lords of the Fallen - Spurned Progeny boss fight

Spurned Progeny is the first true test in Lords of the Fallen but with a bit of skill and luck, you can overcome this formidable foe fairly quickly. Here's how.

Lords of the Fallen is packed with all sorts of monstrosities and boss fights that will make you pull your hair out. One of the strongest early-game bosses is a massive firey beast called Spurned Progeny.

Spurned Progeny is a single-phase boss but the fight is split into two parts as you'll find out in this guide. Without a proper strategy, you'll end up dying quite a lot so here are some tips on how to overcome this boss.

Lords of the Fallen Spurned Progeny boss fight tips

First part of the battle

  • If you usually die a lot during boss fights, don't start this one if you don't have Vestige seed to plant in front of the arena as the nearest Ancient Vestige is quite far and you'll have to run through a dangerous area to get to the boss.
  • The best position you can take during the first part of the battle is behind the boss. Don't stay in front of him as he'll constantly unleash his hand slam attacks that can be hard to avoid. If you stay behind the boss, he'll almost never use this devastating attack.
  • In the first part of the fight, Spurned Progeny has several additional attacks that deal physical and fire damage. One of his strongest attacks is the summoning of a triple fire attack from the ground.
  • The attack is pretty easy to avoid. Use your dodge in a way to avoid the fire and position yourself for a counterattack at the same time. Once you dodge the third fire attack, it's time to swing.
  • The second attack that you can use to your advantage is the classic "jump on the butt/back" attack. His recovery time for this one is quite large so use that window to unleash a combo of three to four hits.
  • If you stay behind the boss all the time, he will almost exclusively use only these two attacks that we've mentioned above, making this first part of the battle much easier.

The second part of the battle

  • Once you take one third of the boss's HP, he will start releasing lava onto the arena's floor. You can hit the boss one or two times while he's doing this but don't be greedy as lava will fill up pretty fast and it's quite devastating.
  • Climb the walls and use the time to heal or buff or attack with magic/bow as the boss will take his time to reach you.
  • During this part of the fight, he'll exclusively attack with his hands. He'll slam the ground with both his left and right hand but these are fairly easy to avoid. Each time he attacks with his hand, dodge and counter with one swing.
  • After a couple of slams, a third arm will come from his mouth, attacking you three times in a repeated manner. The key here is to dodge, hit the arm, the immediately dodge again as the arm will quickly attack after the first attack. Repeat the process of dodge, hit, dodge.
  • The third attack is again with the third arm but instead of the attack above, the arm will slam the ground releasing a wave of fire. Don't dodge as the arm is heading towards you as the wave of fire will damage you. Instead, stay back and let the arm hit the ground and then dodge to avoid the wave. After this attack, the arm will be very vulnerable so use it to unleash a combo of three to four hits.
  • The final attack with the third arm is another ground slam that will fill the wall area with fire so leave that platform and head for a different one. Wait for the boss there and repeat the process as he repeats his attacks.
  • Once you get his health to a minimum, Spurned Progeny will use his final attack in which he releases heat flares that eventually result in a huge explosion. Use the parts of the wall to protect yourself from this attack and as soon as the explosion occurs, run towards the boss and attack as his recovery time after this attack is quite large.
