At one point in Lords of the Fallen, you'll reach the Tower of Penance, a massive structure that is home to another beacon that you need to cleanse on your adventure to stop the demon god Adyr from returning.
Before you can cleanse the beacon, you'll have to fight two bosses called Tancred, Master of Castigations and Reinhold the Immured. It's practically one fight with two phases but the bosses are so distinct that you'll feel like you're fighting two completely different foes.
This boss fight is one of the hardest in the game, so if you're struggling here, check out the tips below that should help you beat this boss.
Lords of the Fallen - How to beat Tancred, Master of Castigations/Reinhold the Immured?
First Phase
- The fight has two phases, as you've probably guessed by the names. The first phase is easier as the boss is much more aggressive in the second phase.
- Radiant Bleed spell deals additional damage in this boss fight.
- One of the ways to tackle the first phase is to stay close to the boss and strafe right around him, which will allow you to avoid some attacks without even dodging. Dodge the attacks and counter with a couple of your own hits.
- Tancred's ground slam magic wave attack can be dodged easily and use this to position yourself for the attack but keep in mind that he will follow up with another slam attack if you're close. Dodge immediately after you hit him to avoid this attack.
- He has a strong thrust attack that can stab you resulting in an animation where you'll take more damage. This attack is easy to dodge and has longer recovery so use it to attack him.
- If you're struggling to much, you can always summon help in front of the arena. Pieta is a great choice as she can provide valuable healing.
Second Phase
- In the second phase the boss will turn into a large monster creature that is very aggressive and has powerful attacks that can obliterate your health bar in a second.
- You need to be brave with this one and stay close to him. We managed to easily beat Reinhold by locking to his legs behind and making sure our position was almost below him or behind him.
- Always dodge in the direction of the boss' belly or his legs behind. Never stay in front of the boss.
- With this approach, he will miss many of his attacks and won't even try certain ranged attacks as you'll be very close to him.
- Dodge his attacks in the way you stay on his side and attack with combos of 2-3 attacks.
- At one point, you'll break his posture and he'll fall to the ground. Follow up with a stab attack to take a large chunk of his health.
- Reinhold is too vulnerable to Radiant bleed spell.
