Dune: Awakening, the newest survival game from Funcom, isn't that complex a game, and all its survival mechanics are pretty much the regular ones. However, as with any other game out there, it has its own characteristics that set it apart from other games in the genre.
One such mechanic is crafting, which seems very straightforward, and if you start playing the game, you'll see that there's nothing so special about it—you press the button on your controller or keyboard, enter the crafting menu, and press the button to craft stuff; that's pretty much it.
You may be wondering, what is the purpose of this guide, then? Well, things are not that black and white, and if you want to craft something and find yourself in the situation in which you don't know where the certain item you want to craft is located, fear not; you're not the only one because it took us a long time as well to figure out completely how his crafting procedure actually works.
How to craft in Dune: Awakening
As we said earlier, crafting in Dune: Awakening is quite a simple task. All you have to do is enter the crafting menu and start crafting, of course, provided you have already discovered and researched a certain recipe for something you want to craft. As you explore the world and the locations within the game, you'll get research points. Inside the research tab, you can spend those points to research new recipes.
Most of the research will be off-limits until you reach a certain level in the game, and as you level up, new recipes will become available, and if you desire, you will be able to spend the research points and research those recipes. Once a recipe is researched, it can be crafted inside the crafting menu; at least some of them can.
Some items will not be available for crafting directly from the menu; instead, you'll have to make the fabricator inside your base and fabricate those items there. Making the fabricator will be the part of the tutorial and is unmissable. In essence, if you want to craft something and don't see it inside the crafting menu, simply open the fabricator and do it there.
The advantage of crafting stuff in the fabricator is that once you craft things there, they will be stored inside of it or in the local storage, without taking unnecessary space in your inventory; if you need that particular item, you can simply take it from there. One more advantage is that the fabricator shares the storage space, and you won't need to transfer crafting materials for crafting something.
