Dune: Awakening, the latest survival game from Funcom, brings all survival mechanics to the front, along with the base building that can be considered one of the most important segments of the survival games.
In this game, you'll need to build the base from scratch, meaning you'll have to build everything, from the foundations, walls, roof, and everything inside and outside of it, and even though it seems like a simple task, due to the plethora of options and several submenus, you'll probably lose yourself in this mess once or twice at least.
To prevent that from happening, and to simplify the process as much as possible, we've prepared a guide that will show you how to build your base, move stuff inside it, and do everything as it is supposed to be done.
How to properly build the base in Dune: Awakening
As part of the tutorial, Dune: Awakening will teach you the basics on how to build the base, and this will happen very early in the game. During this part of the tutorial, you'll be prompted to use the construction tool, and this is where things can get complicated. First, you must construct a sub-fief console. Find a suitable place, ideally close to a large rock; the game will tell you where you can place it.
Once a sub-fief console is in place, it is time to build foundations. In this tutorial part, the game will place all the needed components inside the favourites menu. But if you want to build the base later, you're going to have to find them on your own. Assuming you play the game using a gamepad, once inside the construction tool, press the Y button (Xbox controller) to bring up the entire menu and choose whichever tool you need from there.
After following the tutorial for a little while and placing the basic structures, like walls and rooftops, you'll be prompted to move the subfief console inside the base. If the console is already inside the base, to finish the tutorial, you'll still have to move it. To move the sub-fief console and any other piece of structure, choose it from the construction tool menu and then press the right stick until it reaches the move option. Now, simply move the console wherever you like inside the base, and that task should be over.
One more thing that is of crucial importance. All the materials needed for the construction will respawn quite fast, so in order to gather enough of them, simply make several turns, and you'll have enough. Keep in mind that the enemies respawn, too, so be careful.
