In Dune: Awakening, the latest survival game from Funcom, the bases are the most important places in the game, serving as some sort of safe haven for you or your friends that play with you, shielding you from the very harsh conditions of the Arrakis desert and the dangers it brings.
Seriously, in Dune: Awakening, everything is working against you: dangerous creatures, tough scavengers, and even the sun that will burn you if you stay on it for too long; in essence, the only safe place for you will be your base, so you'll need to make sure it works as it is supposed to.
Once you build the base, it will need constant upkeep, or it will be rendered useless; if you, for example, stop visiting your base for too long, all its functions may stop working. Why is that? You may wonder. If you want to know the answer, this guide will provide it.
As soon as you learn how to build a base in Dune: Awakening, the game will teach you how to make it powered. Of course, since it is one of the first things you'll learn in this game, there is a huge possibility that you can forget how those things work (it happened to us, and we're not proud of it at all).
How to power your base in Dune: Awakening
To power your base, you'll need to first produce a fuel-powered generator and place power cells within it to make it operational. Once this is done, your base will protect you from a sandstorm; if your base isn't powered, however, it can easily be destroyed, and it won't serve as a shelter for you any more, simple as that.
To power your base, go outside and search for power cells. Luckily, those cells are scattered all over the map, and you can gather them pretty easily. If you zoom in on your map to the closest, you can even see where larger deposits of power cells are located. To gather them, use the cutteray on the deposits because the deposits will have a lot more power cells than you can gather by picking them one by one.
Once you have enough power cells, interact with the fuel-powered generator by pressing the X button (Xbox controller), and choose the option for adding power cells to it. The more power cells you add, the more time your base will be empowered and protected.
