If you do not know what to do or how to progress further in the story, simply search for fortune tellers and talk to them to reveal what to do next. It is as simple as that. However, they are not found on every corner, and their services are not free.
One fortune teller is located inside Vernworth, and her shop goes by the name of Diviner's Salon. The second fortune teller is located quite later in the game, to the south of Checkpoint Rest Town. Any fortune teller you encounter will be shown on your map with a crystal globe icon.
Talk to them if you are stuck. However, do not expect a straightforward answer because you won't get it for sure. Instead, they will explain vaguely what to do next, usually in a cryptic way. Each piece of advice will cost you 50 gold, and considering the other prices, it is quite a bargain.
