Hal is a blacksmith in Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen, found in Norgan Settlement, the hub area for the entire DLC where most quests originate and most NPCs reside. Once you've explored and discovered Norgan Snowfield and returned to speak with him, Hal hands you the Treasure Hunt quest. From there you're on your own: the quest sends you out into the blizzard to find four wooden posts that clearly point at something, without telling you what.
Step 1: Track down the four posts
Once the quest starts, you'll get four general locations to search. Use the Spirit Compass to help narrow things down. The posts are usually half-buried in snow, but they're not especially hard to spot once you're close.
Step 2: Report back to Hal
After finding all four posts, return to Hal and tell him what you found. He'll suggest the answer has something to do with where the posts are pointing.
Step 3: Ignore the tilt, and draw the lines instead
Inspect each post, and you'll notice they're all tilted to one side. That's a decoy, and following it will send you nowhere. The actual solution is to draw a line on your map between each pair of opposite posts. Wherever those two lines cross is the spot you need to explore.
Step 4: Head to where the lines overlap and defeat the boss
Travel to the crossing point, and you'll run into a boss fight. This one hits hard, so come prepared before engaging.
Step 5: Break the ice and enter Snowslide Pass
Once the boss is down, step onto the fragile ice nearby. It breaks apart and opens a path into Snowslide Pass, a small underground cave.
Step 6: Grab the treasure and bring it back to Hal
The treasure itself is smaller than you'd expect: a single rusted ring. Bring it back to Hal, and he'll repair it for you. Once fixed, the ring negates all freezing damage, which makes it genuinely useful for the rest of this DLC area.
Quick tip: Don't waste time studying the angle each post leans at. It reads like a clue, but the actual answer only shows up once you start drawing lines between opposite posts on the map, not by eyeballing any single post on its own.
