Among many quests in Dragon's Dogma 2, the latest action RPG from Capcom, is the one called Feast of Deception, in which your goal will be to get past the Vermund-Battahl border using a permit given to you by Captain Brant.
Of course, the permit is all you need to get past the border; the only problem is that the particular permit is not meant for men or pawns but instead for beastrens, and since you are not one, you must find the way to bend the low a little bit.
If this quest is giving you a headache and you do not know how to solve it, we've prepared a guide that will lead you to its conclusion, step-by-step.
How to get past the Vermund-Battahl border using the Beastren border permit
Once you approach the border, the guard will automatically engage in conversation with you, letting you know that no one will get past his gate without a comprehensive permit. After the conversation, the prompt will appear to show him the permit you received from Brant, but if you choose to present it right away, he will see through your deception for the obvious reason—you are not one of the beastrens.
To solve this problem, you must become one, or at the very least look like one. Return to Checkpoint Rest Town and go to Ibrahim's Scrap Store. Inside his store, you will find the Beastren Mask, which you can buy to fool the guard and pose as one of the beastrens.
Buy the mask, put it on and then present the permit for the guard. This time, he will let you through. Apart from the obvious benefit of getting past the border to access the next area in the game, you will also be awarded with the "Across the Border" trophy/achievement.
