Among the many quests you will encounter in Dragon's Dogma 2, the latest action RPG from Capcom, A Game of Wits, is an unusual one, given that it doesn't involve any fighting but rather thinking instead—solving riddles given to you by Sphinx, to be exact.
Sphinx is a mythical being located inside Mountain Shrine, all the way to the north of Checkpoint Rest Town. If you are uncertain of its location, check out the map below. Once you reach Sphinx, she will give you several riddles to solve, and each riddle is considered a subquest, which is a part of one large quest connected to this character.
In this guide, we will show you how to solve the first riddle, which is the opening one and not so hard, but it will give you an idea of what to do in order to solve each one of them.
How to solve the first Sphinx Riddle
The first Sphinx riddle is called The Riddle of Eyes, and its solution is quite straightforward if you know exactly what to do to solve it. Sphinx will require from you bring her an important item from the cave, which she will unlock once you start this subquest. Enter the cave, and while you can explore it completely and gather everything inside and kill one boss in process, to solve the quest, you can simply enter the cave and take the item from the chest above the entrance.
Enter the cave and climb the circular stairs, and exactly above the entrance, you will find the chest with Sealing Phial inside. Bring this item to Sphinx to finish this part of the quest. She will tempt you about your final answer, but do not be afraid; just give her the phial and she will eventually unlock the first chest to you.
Inside the first chest, you will find a wakestone as a reward, but this is not the final reward you'll get. The main price is Sealing Phial itself, a very useful item that can seal anyone inside it to safely carry them around. This phial will be useful for completing the second riddle, as you'll be tasked with bringing a person with you, so this phial will help you a lot with this task.
