Baldur's Gate 3 has some weapons that propel a playstyle with a massive force but they are often well-hidden and can be missed entirely.
Phalar Aluve is a perfect example as it is hidden in the Underdark, an area that doesn't offer good visibility in the first place and if you are going to miss the sword most of the time if you are not specifically looking for it.
The sword is stuck in stone, not looted from an enemy or purchased from a vendor.
You will have the easiest time getting Phalar Aluve by going through the Shattered Sanctum area in the goblin camp. As you enter it, talk to Priestess Glut, who will offer to lead you into her chambers. At that point, you can just sneak into her private rooms instead, which will be guarded by Glut's bodyguard who patrols the main room in a single line.
As soon as she turns her back, sneak to her left and go down the corridor that leads downwards to enter a secret Selunite puzzle room. Solve the puzzle or pick the lock on the nearby level and a new door will open, leading you to the Selunite outpost in the Underdark.
Once you're in the outpost, you will need to get out through the main gate. To do so, simply knock the moonstone out of the statue that is powering the turrets outside the gate and then use the nearby level to open the portcullis.
In case you don't want to fight the wounder Minotaur, wait for the turrets to kill him and then knock the turrets out.
As you exit the Selunite outpost, you will see a fork in the road. Take the path to the left to reach the proper position.
Once you're at the location, click on the sword stuck in stone to interact with it. You will need to pass a DC 15 Strength or Religion check to get it out. Therefore, it is best to use one of your frontline party members like Karlach or Lae'Zel and then buff them with Guidance from Shadowheart to have the best chance of pulling the sword out.
If one character fails the check, you can always try with another or save scum. Once you've pulled the sword out, you will find yourself in possession of a fantastic weapon for dual-wielders or Dexterity characters who want something that hits harder than a scimitar. If you are using it two-handed with the Shriek ability, it will be on par with the Everburn Blade, the best greatsword in Act 1.
