Six years after it's predecessor, Hunting Simulator 3 is launching on October 29, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game will cover two open world regions, Colorado and Texas, with each of them spanning 100 km², and filled with more than 35 animal species to track and hunt.
The franchise has built a community of over one million players across its previous entries, and now the third installment is the first one to run on Unreal Engine 5. The plan is to bring the same elements that made the first two games a success while also introducing new features to keep things fresh and interesting.
A dynamic ecosystem
The biggest addition on the technical side that the third game brings is SimFauna - a system that the developers built in house - with the intent to simulate wildlife behaviour across the entire map.
Animals will reproduce, grow, and age over time, while everything the player does will directly affect the ecosystem. For example, hunting aggressively in one area will make the animal population respond accordingly.
This addition will move the game from just the basic scripted spawns and more towards something that will break repetition and play differently every time. The question which will matter the most is whether it will be able to hold up across dozens of hours of hunting after launch.
New gear and dogs
Players will be able to choose between 75 different weapons and pieces of equipment from Remington, Beretta, Winchester, and Browning, and also traverse the maps in five off-road vehicles courtesy of Ford, Kawasaki, and Polaris.
Hunting dogs will also make a comeback, this time with multiple breeds available and each of them with their distinct behaviour that affects how you approach a hunt. It's up to you to decide whether you'll go hunting solo, or with a dog as a companion.
