Google's video service will follow in the footsteps of Netflix, so in addition to the classic video offer, it will also enable its users to play fun and simple games. More than 75 of them are already available at the beginning.
Over the past few months, select YouTube users have had access to a series of free little games, and soon everyone will get them. In the "Explore" menu, where you can usually find "trending" content and recommendations of the service itself on this video service, a new section will appear - "Playables".
Access to games does not require a subscription, and they are focused on "light and fun" games like Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonders, Cut the Rope, Tomb of the Mask, or Trivia Crack.
Playing without subscription
To begin with, there will be slightly more than 75 games, and users will be able to play all of them directly within the interface through which they normally access YouTube, both on the desktop and within mobile applications on iOS and Android.
This move is similar to that of Netflix a few years ago, but in the case of YouTube, access to games does not require a subscription, but can be played by everyone, completely free.
Playables is a new, fun and interactive way to enjoy YouTube, the company says, emphasizing that the focus is on "light and fun" games, such as Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonders, Cut the Rope, Tomb of the Mask or Trivia Crack. Although simple, the games also allow you to record your progress and track your best results.
In case you don't see them in your YouTube interface yet, please be patient – all users will get access to the Playables section in the coming weeks or months.
