Rovio Entertainment released another game featuring a flock of riled avians. This time there's more than 100 of them and they can evolve. Angry Birds Evolution is available now for free on mobile.
Remember Angry Birds? That game is the most fun I've had with a slingshot that didn't end with a furious threat by this kid's mom. After a series of games and a movie, Rovio Entertainment is now presenting us with a "completely new spin on the worldwide smash-hit brand".
The newest game is called Angry Birds Evolution and it combines "eastern-style RPG mechanics and console quality graphics". Yes, console quality graphics on mobile. Rovio is inviting you to "deal with it".
The birds in this game have been "completely reimagined and redesigned to collect, train, and evolve". Rovio and Chimera Entertainment came up with north of 100 new birds, each with multiple evolution states.
Don Bacon is the big bad of the game. I think this is the only time in my entire life that bacon has been associated with something evil. I don't know how I feel about that. Don Yummy, I mean Bacon, has a sinister plan to turn the idyllic Bird Island into a hotel chain.
Reginaldo Valadares, Head of Rovio Stockholm studio said: "RPG games are one of the key focus areas in Rovio Games, and we wanted to make Angry Birds Evolution our first title inspired by eastern RPG games. Cheeky humor, deep RPG turn-based combat, fresh art style, and pop-culture references galore – Angry Birds Evolution has it all".
One question: will the pop-culture references evolve with the pop-culture? How very deep of me.
Miika Tams, Product Lead for Angry Birds Evolution had this to say: "It’s been a fun ride bringing a more mature tone and stylised graphics along with all the movie, TV, and comic book references together for our more experienced fans. This game shows how well the Angry Birds resonates with an older audience, too."
