The lack of child safety in Roblox has been a major concern for many governing bodies around the world. In a recent move to protect children from the dangers of unsolicited contact with adults, Qatar has banned Roblox across all platforms in their country.
Qatar Bans Roblox Across All Platforms
According to the Qatar Tribune, Roblox has been banned in Qatar following a social media campaign regarding the safety of children and teenagers playing the game. As a result of the campaign, the access to Roblox has been blocked across all platforms.
While Roblox is still downloadable on Android and iOS, upon launching the game, it can be seen that the game is unable to establish a connection to the game servers. The same things can be seen for the web and PC versions of Roblox.
Roblox has recently come under fire for severe lack of content censorship and lack of safety for children. Roblox is a major platform used by children and teenagers; however, there are tonnes of content in the game that are unsuitable for them.
Moreover, there has been a recent rise of adults posing as children or teenagers and targeting children and teenagers to make unsolicited contact with them. The serious consequence of grooming and predatory behavior has been a major controversy for Roblox for the past years.
Recently, popular Roblox player and YouTuber Schlep was banned from the game after receiving a cease-and-desist from the billion-dollar company for exposing child predators on the platform with his team.
The ban from Qatar becomes a major milestone for the safety movement for children and teenagers in Roblox. There has been no official announcement from Roblox regarding the ban, so it's unclear if the decision will get reversed in the near future.
