Sony have today officially announced a new PlayStation State of Play event for May 30 at 3 pm PT / 6 pm ET | May 31 12 am CEST / 7 am JST.

After weeks of rumours and rumblings, PlayStation's big event has been officially confirmed for May 30 at 3 pm PT / 6 pm ET / May 31 at 12 am CEST / 7 am JST.

Interestingly, this one is going to be a State of Play, not a full-blown showcase, which some fans may find disappointing but I'd argue that the event format doesn't mean much since some previous State of Play shows have been better than Sony's showcase last year.

Sony say that players can expect to see new game announcements from their first-party studios but also PS5 and PS VR2 titles. The State of Play will have a running time of 30+ minutes featuring 14 titles, which is plenty enough for a cracking event.

PlayStation State of Play will be livestreamed across various PlayStation channels including YouTube and Twitch.

Some of the games that players expect to see at the showcase include Sucker Punch Production's next title, which is rumoured to be the Ghost of Tsushima sequel.

In addition, Bend Studio's new game could make an appearance as it's been quite a while since the studio released their zombie survival adventure Days Gone.

Rumours also suggest we might see a brand new Astro Bot game as well as a gameplay showcase for the upcoming shooter Concord.

Will we see the Ghost of Tsushima sequel at Sony's upcoming event? Let's hope so

So all in all, I'm hopeful this will be another great show by Sony, who certainly should have a lot of first-party projects to show. Add a couple of third-party bangers like Silent Hill 2 Remake and potentially a first reveal for Capcom's Pragmata and that's quite the event.
