Microsoft is reportedly planning to announce more Xbox first-party games for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, including potential ports like Starfield and Grounded 2.

It’s becoming more and more likely that Microsoft is set on continuing its multiplatform strategy. New reports suggest the company is readying even more Xbox exclusives to launch on PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The company has brought a number of high-profile titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Hi-Fi Rush to PS5 already, but it’s far from done.

Xbox’s multiplatform push started in 2024 in the wake of the company’s enormous Activision Blizzard acquisition, but continues in 2025. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages are out now on PS5, while Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and Gears of War: Reloaded launch next month. According to new reports, more multiplatform announcements are on the way.

Video game industry analyst Christopher Dring says Xbox will be confirming a “plethora” of ports in the next few weeks. With Gamescom 2025 set for August 20–24, it’s possible at least some of the announcements will arrive on stage there.

Starfield May Be Confirmed for PS5, Switch 2

Dring didn’t list any specific titles, but there are a number of highly-requested games that could be confirmed for PS5 or Switch 2. Forza Horizon 5 is a popular recent example, while one of the best PlayStation rumours is that Microsoft could port Starfield for the PS5.

Starfield is among the most popular PlayStation port rumors, but Bethesda has its own big plans for the RPG later in 2025. A PlayStation version could qualify as “substantial updates,” a new label for Xbox games likely to be multiplatform.

Obsidian Entertainment is another Xbox first-party studio that could add a new title to the multiplatform list. Grounded 2 could be in the works as the company has not ruled out a multiplatform sequel for Switch and PS5. Microsoft Studios’ South of Midnight is another recent Xbox exclusives that might be added to the list.

Xbox’s New Strategy Is Working Well

Microsoft’s strategy change is already paying dividends. Forza Horizon 5 has just been announced as the bestselling PS5 game of 2025 so far, per the latest reports. The company has more Xbox exclusives coming to the PlayStation 5 this year and it’s likely to keep expanding its reach on other platforms too.

As a result, exclusivity doesn’t wield the power it used to. Sony has its own take on the trend as well. Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox consoles later this year, and the community is not too happy.

If Microsoft makes some of these confirmations at Gamescom, it could be a sign of a permanent shift in how platform holders think about game publishing.
