Physint
Physint is an action espionage game in development at Kojima Productions, directed and written by Hideo Kojima, with no release date or confirmed platforms announced. The game was first revealed at the PlayStation State of Play in January 2024 as a Sony-published title, described by Kojima as his attempt to create the "culmination" of his life's work and a return to the stealth espionage genre he defined with the Metal Gear series.
In a dramatic development announced on 10 September 2026, Sony Interactive Entertainment stated it had made the "difficult decision to step away" from the project, with Xbox Game Studios immediately confirming it would take over as publisher, expanding its existing relationship with Kojima Productions, which already covers horror game OD. The Xbox partnership will extend beyond games into film and television. Platforms and a release date remain unannounced.
A portmanteau of physical and intelligence, Physint has been described by Kojima as the most technically advanced project he has ever undertaken, with technology he claims surpasses even that of the Death Stranding games and OD. The game is a spiritual successor to Metal Gear rather than a continuation of that series, which Kojima departed alongside Konami in 2015. Three cast members have been confirmed: Charlee Fraser, known for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga; Don Lee, known for Train to Busan and Eternals; and Minami Hamabe, known for Godzilla Minus One. Kojima has indicated more casting announcements are to follow, with reports suggesting the studio is seeking a villain evoking the presence of Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal. The Xbox collaboration also expands an already significant relationship between Kojima Productions and Microsoft, with OD, a horror experience co-created with Jordan Peele, separately in development for Xbox.
