Following the official teaser from earlier this week, Ubisoft today released the first-ever cinematic trailer for Assassin's Creed Shadows, the next major Assassin's Creed release which was known as Codename Red over the last couple of years.
Assassin's Creed Shadows will officially launch on November 15, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Yes, Ubisoft are finally leaving behind the last-gen consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The teaser trailer and the info Ubisoft provided along with the trailer pretty much confirmed the leaked information - Assassin's Creed Shadows has two playable protagonists, one of which is a black samurai Yasuke and the other one a female shinobi Naoe. You can see them both in the key art above.
Ubisoft confirmed that players will be able to switch between the characters at any given time. "Approach quests with whichever character you prefer, as each possesses their own respective progression, stats, skills, and gear."
Assassin's Creed Shadows will obviously be set in Feudal Japan and we got to see some of the gorgeous scenery in the cinematic trailer. However, for a more closer look at the open world and the locations we'll get to visit, we'll have to wait for a proper gameplay deep dive, which is scheduled for later this year.
You can bet on one thing, though, Assassin's Creed Shadows is going to be quite the looker now that last-gen consoles are left behind and the dev team focused only on current-gen hardware.
We also got the first info on the Editions and Season Pass. Assassin's Creed Shadows comes in Standard, Gold and Ultimate Edition and for a closer look at everything you get with each, check Ubisoft's pre-order page. Season Pass includes two expansions that cost $25 each and a 4200 Helix, an in-game currency that you can spend on cosmetics. The price of the Season Pass is $40.
In case you haven't been following the franchise closely, Assassin's Creed Shadows is the fourteenth main instalment in Ubisoft's popular stealth action-adventure series. Shadows will be similar in design to Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla, both of which are massive open-world titles with a ton of content.
