Trials of Osiris had some shortcomings with the Labs test through Capture Zone but Bungie announced there will be tuning for it and the mode will soon return to Destiny 2.
Bungie revealed their analysis of player engagement and impressions of Trials of Osiris in the experimental game mode Capture Zone that was made to shake up the stale format of Elimination. Destiny 2 players played this game mode a lot even though many were dissatisfied with the way the objective would give one team an advantage.
Namely, the zone that grants a win through capturing would initially spawn between the two teams but would then rotate across spawns you would normally find in 6v6 Control. As a result, one of the teams would be much closer to the zone and could set up their defence immediately while the opponents would be forced to rush without a fair chance to contest.
This is one of the things Bungie will be aiming to fix in the next iteration of Trials Capture Zone, in order not to tilt the match in favour of either team. The team seems rather optimistic as the TWAB from September 30, 2021, announced that the same experimental mode could return as soon as December 2021.
Considering that Labs implies more game modes will be rotated, it's possible we might see more formats that would provide diversity in the game mode that tends to offer some of the best PvP weapons.
