Bungie announced that they will add Fireteam Finder beta to Destiny 2 after Season of the Wish launches.
For reference, the new season is starting on November 28 while the beta is scheduled for November 30, 2023.
Initially, Fireteam Finder will only work for raids, with other features to follow in the future. Bungie asked for patience with the finder as this is apparently their most ambitious launch in a while.
The complete version of Fireteam Finder will include Crucible, Campaign, Dungeons, Gambit, Raids, Seasonal Activities, Vanguard (strikes) and some other activities.
Considering what Lightfall was like, it is no doubt a single tool can be seen as a bigger development than the entire expansion.
Technically, Destiny 2 already has a Fireteam Finder but it is not in the game itself. Instead, you need the Destiny 2 app on your phone where you log in with the same credentials your account uses, choose the character you're logged in with and search for groups.
The app is integrated with the game rather well so other than the inconvenience of using the phone while playing on the platform of your choice, it is fairly easy to find teams for various activities.
