Shoulder charges get another nerf in Destiny 2
Destiny 2 - The Guardian with Cayde-6

Key Points from the Article

  • Destiny 2 already nerfed shoulder charges
  • New set of nerfs is aimed at shoulder charges and sliding melees
  • Other classes are also affected
  • Shotguns are your best bet for quick close range kills
Destiny 2 - The Guardian with Cayde-6

One-shotting people with shoulder charges is getting chopped once again as the players found a workaround.

Destiny 2 players were somewhat annoyed when the shoulder charge abilities lost the potential to one-shot enemies but it wasn't long until they started using a workaround with sliding.

Namely, people would sprint, start sliding towards an enemy, briefly shoot them and then activate the melee ability to still get a quick kill but it appears Bungie is not happy with this either.

As such, shoulder charge and sliding melee abilities will be disabled in these scenarios.

Starting with Season of the Wish, sliding and sprinting melee abilities simply won't activate if you shoot during a slide first.

Affected abilities are:

  • Consecration
  • Flechette Storm
  • Hammer Strike
  • Howl of the Storm
  • Lightning Surge
  • Seismic Strike
  • Shield Bash
  • Tempest Strike

Destiny 2 - TFW you and your Ghost can't believe the nerfs
TFW you and your Ghost can't believe sliding melee got nerfed right after Young Ahamkara's Spine

Unfortunately for the Titans, it appears that their glory days of slamming people instantly are not coming back anytime soon but this set of nerfs is likely to annoy Hunters as well.

In any case, the message seems to be that if you want instant kills in close range, you have to rely on shotguns and nothing else.
