A new interview suggests Tomb Raider: Catalyst will now launch in 2028, following the release of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis in February 2027.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst will reportedly arrive in 2028, CEO of Amazon Gaming Jeffrey Gattis inadvertently revealed, potentially delaying the next installment in the series. This news comes hot off the heels of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis‘ recent delay to February 12, 2027.

Gattis shared with The Game Business where Amazon stands with its development of the Tomb Raider franchise, sharing that Legacy of Atlantis would be releasing before its series follow-up next year. Currently, there is no official word from Crystal Dynamics on when exactly fans can expect Catalyst to release.

However, a potential 2028 release would space out new Tomb Raider titles much farther than previously. Having two big-budget games from the franchise coming out so close together could split gamers, especially with Legacy of Atlantis getting its own marketing push.

Another reason for the delay could be so Amazon and Crystal Dynamics have more time to work on what’s promised to be Tomb Raider: Catalyst. Set to be the first all-new mainline game since Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018, rumors have dropped that it will be the largest game in the franchise by far.

It makes sense for the title to get a lengthy development period. As of right now, these remarks should be taken with a grain of salt until Crystal Dynamics officially announces the game’s release date.

But if Gattis is correct, then fans may need to wait until 2028 to see Lara Croft adventuring in a new title.Until then, players can look forward to Legacy of Atlantis on February 12, 2027.
