Exodus’ protagonist has been back in the workshop. Archetype Entertainment have revealed an updated model for the male version of Jun Aslan, and it looks quite different from the one players have seen so far.
The short video opens with studio head Chad Robertson speaking directly to the community. He says the team have seen months of conversation and feedback about the male Jun model, that they took it seriously, and that they’ve kept refining the character alongside the rest of the game. After that he lets the footage speak for itself, which is the right call for a visual change.
Old Jun vs new Jun: what’s different
The difference is clear in the side-by-side comparison. The original Jun was bearded and rugged, with a heavier, older-looking face, an orange and white suit and a clear bubble helmet.
The new version is clean-shaven, with sharper, leaner features and longer, swept-back hair, so he reads as younger. His gear has changed too: muted olive armour, a scarf and a more enclosed helmet replace the bright suit, which suits a game about surviving harsh alien worlds much better.
The rest of the video shows the updated Jun in a few short in-engine scenes. He’s greeted by Matthew McConaughey's character who says they’ve been keeping an eye on him, is warned it’s his last chance to back out, and finally introduces himself on screen. There’s not much new story detail, but it’s the first proper look at the redesign in motion rather than in a still.
Exodus release date and platforms
