Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis has been pushed back to 2027

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has been pushed from its original 2026 window to 12 February 2027, with a new trailer at State of Play confirming the date.

The remake of the 1996 Tomb Raider original has slipped. Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis, the Unreal Engine 5 reimagining of Lara Croft's first adventure, will now launch on 12 February 2027 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC — a delay from its original 2026 target. The new date was confirmed via a fresh trailer during today's PlayStation State of Play, and pre-orders are now open.

Why the delay?

No official reason has been given for the slip. The most widely floated theory is the obvious one: timing. Moving to February 2027 means Legacy of Atlantis now releases well clear of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 6, which is currently set for November 2026. Getting out of the way of the biggest launch of the decade is a sensible commercial call, even if it's frustrating for fans who were hoping to play this year.

There's a slight irony to the new date, mind. February 2027 now puts it up against Fable, Microsoft's own reboot, which was also recently delayed to the same month. You can dodge one heavyweight and walk straight into another.

It's also worth noting the context around the studio. Crystal Dynamics has been through multiple rounds of layoffs, the most recent in March 2026, while juggling both this and the separate Tomb Raider: Catalyst, so a bit of extra breathing room is arguably no bad thing.
