The publisher of last year's Lords of the Fallen title have revealed some key new information about the official sequel which is coming in 2026. Surprisingly, the next Lords of the Fallen game seems to be targeting a wider audience so it will feature a "more commercial art style and narrative" as per the official document (via MauroNL).
We're not sure what exactly CI Games mean by commercial art style but we really hope the next Lords of the Fallen retains the art direction and visual presentation of the original game which is one of the most stunning titles of this generation.
CI Games also confirmed that developer Hexworks are working on a full shared progression co-op alongside a core single-player campaign and will officially unveil the game sometime in 2025 with a strong marketing campaign.
In addition, Steam players will surely be disappointed to hear that the game will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store since Epic decided to invest a lot of money into the project to get store exclusivity. It's worth noting that the last year's title was on Steam from day one.
Here are the key points from the CI Games earnings report regarding the next Lords of the Fallen:
- The next major instalment in the LOTF franchise, built on UE5
- Major investment from Epic for PC exclusivity
- Increased appeal and accessibility to both existing and wider audiences
- Gameplay improvements; increased game more optionality, more commercial art style and narrative, elevated production values-
- Full 'shared-progression' co-op alongside core singleplayer campaign
- To be announced in 2025 (TBC) with marketing campaign leveraging strong brand awareness following significant marketing spend for Lords 23 and growing install base
- Target release date: 2026
All in all, we're still excited for Lords of the Fallen sequel but it's safe to say that some of these new tidbits of info aren't really that encouraging. Hopefully, we get some clarification from CI Games regarding some of the issues we've pointed out in this article.
Lords of the Fallen sequel is expected on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
