Lords of the Fallen: The Lightreaper boss fight

The Lightreaper in Lords of the Fallen is undeniably one of the game's most challenging boss fights. Here are some valuable tips to not only make the encounter manageable but also secure your victory.

In Lords of the Fallen, you'll encounter a fearsome boss known as The Lightreaper four times throughout the game. Unless you possess extraordinary skill or a stroke of luck, expect to face defeat on each occasion. The mere sight of The Lightreaper is enough to evoke feelings of anxiety and dread.

During your fourth encounter with The Lightreaper, victory becomes imperative if you wish to progress in the story. This time, The Lightreaper will not retreat following your defeat.

Considering that this fight is extremely challenging, we've prepared some valuable tips to help you emerge victorious. So, without further ado, let's dive right in.

How to beat The Lightreaper

  • Just before the battle, enter the Umbral. Near the arena's entrance, climb the Umbral ladder on the right and follow the only available path. At the end of this path, you'll encounter a parasite that must be soulflayed using a lamp. This action significantly eases the boss fight since the parasite, if left unchecked, continually replenishes the boss's health.
  • The Lightreaper wields remarkably swift attacks, using all four of his hands, making it incredibly challenging to predict his moves. The most effective approach is to summon Pieta for assistance. While the boss engages Pieta, you can employ a combination of magic and ranged attacks to deplete as much of his health as possible. If fortune favours you, a situation may arise where the Lightreaper becomes fixated on fighting Pieta, even after her death. In the event this happens, embrace the opportunity, as the boss adopts an extremely aggressive stance during his final phase. The optimal strategy involves circling the arena and bombarding the boss with magic.
  • When the boss leaps backward, he will unleash a flaming wave that can be dodged if timed right, and you must also learn to differentiate it from another fire attack. If the fire manages to land a few hits on you, causing a fire status effect, ensure that you have potions for dispelling this status effect available in your inventory.
  • Here's another crucial tip: conserve your ammo and mana for the latter half of the battle when Pieta is no longer present. While she's still alive and engaged with the boss, get in close and unleash melee attacks on the boss while he's focused on her. After Pieta eventually falls (usually during the boss's second dragon flight), switch to ranged attacks and maintain some distance from the boss to keep yourself safe.
