Lords of the Fallen 2 is getting another developer diary video. Released yesterday, it digs even further into what players can expect from the action-RPG sequel’s combat. Lords of the Fallen 2 first officially revealed gameplay during The Game Awards.
CI Games has continued to share more details on the follow-up ever since. For Lords of the Fallen 2, executive producer James Lowe and lead system designer Daniel Regan share what players can look forward to from the sequel’s combat in the newest developer diary video. The team is going for a more fluid, deep, and tactical experience with Lords of the Fallen 2‘s soulslike combat.
The Lords of the Fallen 2 dev diary goes into detail on not only new combat encounters, but the thought process behind enhancing the combat for more depth across the board. Viewers can see new gameplay directly from the game’s alpha as well.
A More Fluid and Reactive Combat Experience
From the very start of the developer diary, one detail rings true about Lords of the Fallen 2; the developers want combat to feel faster and more reactive.
Expect:
- Quicker speed and mobility
- Combat that feels chaotic and requires intelligent positioning/reaction
- Increased area of control during fights
Lampbearers (player characters) must weave through attacking and defending as every action matters.
Expanded Combat Options and Weapon Variety
Combat won’t simply focus on just one play style. Lords of the Fallen 2 is looking to include:
- Fluid movement between melee/ranged/spells
- Increase to overall weapon/armor variety
- More strategic heavy attacks
Meaning players can expect to get up in enemies’ personal spaces while also thinking tactically about their approaches.
New Executions, Enemies and Spellcraft
The developer diary also discusses some new additions coming to combat:
- Fresh graphical executions
- Expanded enemy roster with unique patterns
- New spells/magic
Alpha footage within the video even displays some boss and enemy concepts.
