Naughty Dog are currently working hard on their next The Last of Us game, which has been officially confirmed as a Factions multiplayer project, not a narrative-driven single-player action adventure. However, according to the latest leaks, Sony studio might have another game in development from this beloved franchise and that game could be The Last of Us Part 3.
According to the leaker RPK, Naughty Dog are casting for several roles and even have the first bits of the plot sorted out. We've listed the info from the leaker below, but keep in mind that none of this is official info and doesn't really come from reliable industry journalists or insiders.
Take it as just a rumour at this point as it's possible that the information is old or not entirely correct or could be something related to the Factions project, which should have some sort of a story.
The Last of Us 3 leaked story details
- The plot is about a group of scavengers surviving on the outskirts of a post-apocalyptic city.
- The survivors are living in a Victorian house that serves as their base.
According to the leaker, Naughty Dog are looking for actors for these roles:
- Lucas - male, affable, develops a relationship with a young scavenger and will have a turn that shows his dark side.
- Val - female, Leader of the group.
- Ezra - male, wants to take over the house from Val
- Mason - male, former soldier. Must choose between his loyalty to Ezra and the house when Val gets put in charge.
- Gracie - female, 18-25 years old.
Now, given that according to this leak, Naughty Dog are still looking for potential actors, it's safe to assume that the game is in the very early stages of pre-production.
And since Naughty Dog love to take their time when developing these AAA blockbusters and are currently busy with The Last of Us multiplayer project, don't expect to see The Last of Us Part 3 anytime soon. We're probably years and years away from even getting an announcement trailer.
The Last of Us Part 3 is expected to launch on PlayStation 5 only.
