Sony and Naughty Dog could be working on an enhanced version of The Last of Us Part 2, according to the latest rumours. The Last of Us series composer Gustavo Santaolalla has revealed in the most recent interview that a new version of The Last of Us Part 2 is in the works, featuring new content including new guitar tunes that players can play during the guitar scenes in the game.
"In the new editions you can make me play certain themes and well, I can't tell you anything else," he said.
The composer didn't reveal any additional details as he quickly realised that he said confidential information which was not supposed to be shared yet. It remains to be seen what kind of new version this is but certainly don't expect a massive visual update since The Last of Us Part 2 already looks great.
If we had to guess, we'd say the release is probably some kind of PlayStation 5 update with a couple of new additions and potentially, we also get it on PC. Obviously, everything you read here is just rumour or speculation at this point so it's entirely possible that this re-release is actually much bigger, akin to The Last of Us Part 1, which was released on PlayStation 5 and PC recently.
The Last Of Us fans would probably be ecstatic if Naughty Dog surprised us with a short DLC similar to Left Behind but that seems unlikely given that it's been years since The Last of Us Part 2 launched and such DLCs usually follow up shortly after the release of the base game.
All in all, since none of this is officially confirmed, we suggest you take the information with a grain of salt. That way, you won't be disappointed if this release doesn't happen but given that a person so close to Naughty Dog and the game has shared this info, we'd say it's highly likely that it's happening. Fingers crossed.
