GSC Game World has officially unveiled its update roadmap for the rest of 2025, covering both S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and the Zone Kit Modifications Tool. The upcoming changes, which are planned for Q3 and Q4, include performance improvements, gameplay tweaks, and expanded content for players exploring the Zone.
At the core of these updates is a major engine upgrade, with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 set to move to Unreal Engine 5.5.4. This transition aims to improve stability, optimisation, and overall performance, while also enabling new features for future development.
Key updates coming in 2025 to Stalker 2 include:
- Various Night Vision Devices and binoculars for enhanced exploration. (Yes, Night vision is finally coming!)
- NPC and mutant AI improvements, with better combat behavior and balance adjustments.
- New anomalies and fresh story missions featuring both returning and new characters.
- Extended day/night cycle and stamina rework for more immersive survival gameplay.
- Player equipment update introducing new stats, including long-requested protection attributes.
- Immersive display mode and stash loot system overhaul.
Modders will also benefit from Zone Kit, bringing audio modding support, narrative creation tools, improved mod compatibility, and enhanced blueprint modification options.
GSC Game World notes that while these updates are targeted for 2025, the engine upgrade could shift some release timings if required. The studio emphasises that stability and quality remain the top priority.
“Without your help, this wouldn’t have been possible,” the team said in their announcement, thanking the community for its ongoing feedback and support.
Alongside the roadmap, GSC confirmed ongoing improvements for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Enhanced Edition and the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl on PS5 and PS5 Pro.
