During Battlefield 6’s recent open beta, players questioned if AI-controlled soldiers were filling out matches to inflate player counts. Now, EA has clarified that AI soldiers only appear in the Training Grounds playlists.
Training Grounds is Battlefield 6’s tutorial mode, intended to familiarize new players with the game’s main multiplayer experience. In the next beta, which starts August 14, it will also include Breakthrough Initiation, which is a Breakthrough mode with AI filling out any remaining players after 16 have signed up.
If players want to play Breakthrough without AI-controlled opponents, they can select the mode from the Featured playlists, which have the mode in its traditional format.
When new players reach rank 15, Training Grounds will no longer be available in the game’s menu. The recent beta has been a huge success for the Battlefield series, with over 521,000 players concurrently on Steam at the peak of the first week - making it the biggest open beta in the series’ history.
Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra even said Battlefield 6 is poised to outperform Call of Duty this year, and that the “competition is going to make the FPS genre much better in the end.
”Players have also uncovered a new “Flick Look” function which allows players to perform a 180-degree turn with a single press of a button.
And during the recent beta, Battlefield 6’s Javelin Anti-Cheat blocked 330,000 cheating attempts, while EA has once again reiterated that Secure Boot remains an important part of detecting cheats.
Battlefield 6 releases October 10 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
