Marvel's Spiderman has become the best selling superhero video game ever in the United States according to the latest report from Mat Piscatella of the NPD group. PlayStation 4 exclusive dethroned Batman: Arkham City and Arkham Knight.
PlayStation 4 exclusive Marvel's Spiderman has been a major success for the developer Insomniac Games and the publisher Sony. Only a couple of months after its release, the game become the fastest-selling superhero video game of all time in the United States and today, Insomniac's creation claimed another, big win.
According to the latest report from Mat Piscatella of the NPD Group, Marvel's Spider-man is the best selling superhero video game ever in the United States. The game snatched the first spot from Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham City, which held the crown for many years.
The list includes the top 10 best selling superhero games and it counts both physical and digital sales. The thing that makes this achievement even bigger for Spider-man is the PS4 exclusivity.
Spider-man is the only game on the top 10 list to release only on one platform. Both Batman: Arkham City and Arkham Knight in second and third respectively, released on all major platforms. Arkham City even had Nintendo Wii version and also launched on the previous generation of consoles - PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Another interesting thing is that the list is made of four Batman games and three Spider-man games so it's safe to say that Dark Knight and Spidey are dominating the superhero video games market.
