According to Embracer Group's reports, Metro Exodus has sold more than 8,5 million copies since the game was released five years ago, making it the best-selling game in the franchise.
According to the Embracer Group, the owners of Deep Silver and 4A Games , the studios that developed Metro Exodus , this post-apocalyptic shooter has sold more than 8,5 million units across all platforms since its launch in 2019, making Metro Exodus this franchise's best-selling game.
Even though Metro Exodus was released five years ago, thanks to many discounts across all platforms as well as quite interesting downloadable content, the game is still very popular and is sold quite well. Embracer Group reported that 500,000 Metro Exodus copies have been sold in the period between January and March 2023, which is the best-selling period for this game since its launch in 2019.
However, it is little known that this franchise almost collapsed in 2012, right before the release of Metro: Last Light, when THQ, the developer who worked on the second game, went bankrupt. Fortunately, the development of the game was taken over by Deep Silver, so Last Light saw the light of day a year later. Everything, of course, culminated with Exodus, which is by far the most successful of all the games in the Metro series.
Given that the Metro series has proven to be quite successful, the question arises as to whether we will eventually see a new game from the series. According to rumours that surfaced earlier this year, 4A Games is already working on a new Metro game. Since it is common knowledge that the Metro games have alternate endings, it is mentioned that the canon of the story has already been determined and that we will once again play as Artyom, albeit under slightly different circumstances than in the prior games.

Given the direction the story underwent during the last three games, the next game could completely change the approach and, as most of the fans actually hope, go completely open-world, with the newly found radiation-free zone being the base for all post-apocalyptic survivors.
