Something New is a hand cannon that is tied to the Solstice of Heroes event in Destiny 2 and despite being a reskinned True Prophecy, it does feature a new trait.
Once per reload, assists or assisted final blows partially refill the weapon from reserves, potentially overflowing the magazine. ~ Dream Work trait
The problem occurred when players figured out you could abuse the trait in order to load additional ammo into their other weapons. In order to replicate the bug, one would just need to shoot an enemy with Something New, switch to the other weapon and wait for an ally to take the enemy down.
As a result, one could load obscene amounts of ammunition into things like The Fourth Horseman and just melt bosses in a matter of seconds, which is likely the inspiration for The Sixteenth Horseman, seen in the image above.
Alternatively, you could get creative and add some fancy footwork to overflow Kinetic weapons. This way, one could end up with The Last Word with 43 bullets before needing to reload. With Lucky Pants, this could turn into another funny PvE interaction.
That said, Bungie is likely to fix the bug soon, although we are close to the end of the week so if we get lucky, we might get to keep it until the next weekly reset, without a hotfix ruining people's fun.
