Without giving any reason, Riot has removed the standard draft queue option from the playlist on Southeast Asian (SEA) servers.
League of Legends is a popular game that is played by people all over the world. To keep up with the demand, Riot, the company that owns the game, has set up servers in different regions around the world. However, in certain regions, they have also partnered with third-party companies to host the servers for their game. One of these companies is Garena.
Before this year, Garena was responsible for publishing League of Legends for the Southeast Asian market. They had servers located in countries such as Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. This allowed players in these regions to have a better experience when playing the game.
Players were thrilled when Riot announced that its partnership with Garena was ending in 2023. This change meant that players in Southeast Asia would have the opportunity to migrate to Riot-owned servers, which would give them the same benefits and experiences as players on other servers. This news was well-received by the players.
Players were thrilled when Riot finally released the Southeast Asian (SEA) server on January 6, 2023. Despite some initial instability in ping, the launch was overall very successful. Players discovered new features in the Riot client that were not available in Garena, such as a draft queue for normal games.
Despite these issues, Riot has announced that they will be giving away most of the League champions and skins, including an ultimate skin, for free to Southeast Asian players.
Following the release of the ranked season in patch 13.1, Riot unexpectedly removed the draft queue without any prior notification. This is not the only problem that players have faced with the new Southeast Asian servers.
Despite Riot's promise that players' Garena friend lists would be transferred over with their accounts, many players have found that their Garena friends are not present in their friend lists.
