LoL Patch 26.16 Preview reveals Buffs, Nerfs and major Bot Lane changes

Riot Games released the first preview of League of Legends Patch 26.16. This massive patch is set to focus heavily on impacting the bot lane meta we’re seeing now. 

We’re already seeing buffs and nerfs to multiple champions along with sweeping changes to systems affecting roaming supports, ADCs, and items. The champion balance changes are always among the biggest points of interest for new patches. Kennen, Gwen, and Azir are all receiving buffs with numbers still to be detailed by Riot. 

Poppy, Camille, and Bel’Veth are all in for nerfs with Camille’s specifically mentioned as being toned down as a support to strengthen her presence in the top lane.

Riot explains League of Legends Patch 26.16 changes targeting Mages bot meta

Nasus is another champion that isn’t quite getting a straight buff or nerf. Riot wants Nasus to be stronger in the top lane without heavily impacting his jungle play, essentially leaving his power level the same but shifting where we see him played.Roaming supports seem to be one of the largest trends in both pro play and ranked queues as of late. 

Riot intends to clamp down on early game roaming even further by changing the Support Role Quest to punish supports more for spending time away from bot. Additional changes to Hail of Blades, Poppy, and Camille will also help deter poke supports from heavy roaming.ADCs will be receiving multiple system buffs in an effort to help them survive the early game.

Multiple item changes including buffs to Sunfire Aegis, Eclipse, Tiamat, Sterak's Gage, Jungle Pets, and boots, with nerfs to Sundered Sky for build diversity

Berserker’s Greaves, Fleet Footwork, Runaan’s Hurricane, and even ADC magic resist are all getting buffed to help traditional marksmen weather early mage bot laners like Brand or Swain without completely purging them from the meta.Sunfire Aegis, Eclipse, Tiamat, Sterak’s Gage, Jungle Pets, and a few kinds of upgraded boots are all receiving buffs. 

Sundered Sky is being toned down to help promote more build diversity among characters. Black Cleaver and Hail of Blades will also be adjusted, but whether that means buff or nerf is not specified. This is only the first patch preview so expect some numbers and details to change before the full Patch 26.16 notes release.
