Arkane Austin have seemingly put the disappointment that was Redfall behind them and are now staffing for their next project, which should be an immersive sim, a genre where the studio truly excels.
According to the recent job posting for Lead Technical Engineer, Arkane Austin are looking for a person that is familiar with the development of action RPGs and immersive sims.
This obviously suggests that Arkane are returning to their safe zone after working on an open-world looter shooter title, which didn't have a lot of true Arkane magic. Sadly, there are no other details about Arkane's next game but we're sure fans would be ecstatic if a new Prey game was this mysterious project.
Prey wasn't a commercial success for Bethesda so it will be interesting to see if the studio are allowed to make a sequel. Now that Bethesda have the backing of Microsoft, the chances are that such a project would get a green light but until we get an official confirmation, don't get your hopes up.
It is possible that Arkane Austin are helping out on a different project as they have traditionally worked closely with Arkane Lyon, who are rumoured to be working on an immersive sim project.
Arkane Austin have also promised to fix Redfall and deliver an enjoyable experience but so far, we only got one minor patch that didn't really do much for the game. Whether or not they continue to update this vampire shooter, it remains to be seen but certainly don't hold your breath for a No Man's Sky redemption story.
