In the latest update, which is now available on the live server, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has introduced a dynamic weather system to the freshly released Erangel map. The weather effects include fog, hail, rain and thunderstorms.
Recently, PUBG Corp. introduced with huge visual enhancements and terrain changes. This was a much-needed makeover since Erangel is the original PUBG map and it lacks in both overall gameplay design and visual appeal when compared to recent maps like Sanhok or the snowy Vikendi.
Today, the developers are introducing another big feature to bring Erangel even closer to the newer maps. The latest update, which is now available on live servers adds dynamic weather system to Erangel along with several other tweaks and changes to gameplay mechanics such as Blue Zone and vehicle handling.
As the name suggests, the dynamic weather system means that the weather can change dynamically over the course of the match. If the match starts with overcast weather on Erangel, you can expect to see a wide variety of weather conditions as the match progresses.
You can expect the weather patterns to be in effects for at least a couple of minutes. For example, once the fog rolls in, you'll only have a couple of minutes to storm the enemy location and eliminate the threat. Same goes for loud hail, thunderstorms and rain, which can conceal your footsteps so you can sneak up on the enemy.
As for the other additions in the Update 2, PUBG Corp added more destructible pylons and barricades to the roads all over Erangel. They can be destroyed by vehicles, weapons and explosions but do provide a limited amount of cover until they are destroyed.
Additionally, the rolling shimmer effect seen while at the edge of the Blue Zone will no-longer be seen at the centre of the screen where the player is aiming. The update also brings improved vehicle handling of the Scooter, Snowmobile, Snowbike and Motorcycle with Sidecar, thus improving overall driving stability.
